Paul Heaton
- Born Paul David in Merseyside on 9 May 1962
- He is an English singer-songwriter.
- He Is well known for his left-wing political views
- He was the frontman of the Housemartins – Norman Cook (Fatboy Slim) was his bass guitarist
- He went on to form The Beautiful South – their biggest success to date is the single “A Little Time”, released in 1990; it reached number 1 on the UK chart.
- He met Jacqui Abbott singing at a friends party and asked her to audition for the Beautiful South
- His song “Don’t Marry Her” had to be reworded before it could be played on mainstream radio.
- When the Beautiful South disbanded in 2007 he launched his solo career
- He did a tour of village pubs on a bicycle. He said he heard that local pubs were closing all over the country and decided to do a tour to save them
- He Cycled For 5 Hours To Get A Beer In 3 Countries – Belgium, Holland and Germany.
- In 2022, unable to do another cycling tour, he sent money to 60 pubs across the UK and Ireland to enable them to give free pints to celebrate his 60th birthday

- He is an avid collector of beer mats, football memorabilia, postcards, comics and crisp packets.

- He only drinks alcohol when he’s writing songs and limits it to between 2 and 6 pints so that he can write without repeating himself like drunkards do.
