- In 1983 he visited a local radio station in New York, to write and sing the jingles for the station, in return they played his single “Runaway”
- He formed the band Bon Jovi when he was 21 but they didn’t have a hit until 3 years later, in 1986 they released Livin’ on a Prayer
- After the success of “Livin’ On A Prayer,” he went on back-to-back tours and suffered complete exhaustion. This led him to contemplate jumping out of a moving vehicle on his way to see his therapist.
- The band achieved widespread success and global recognition with their third album, Slippery When Wet which had sold 28 million copies and went platinum 12 times over.
- He has released 14 studio albums, five compilations and three live albums. They have sold more than 100 million records worldwide, making them one of the bestselling American rock bands.

- In the 1990s, he started an acting career, starring in the films Moonlight and Valentino and U-571 and appearing on television in Sex and the City, Ally McBeal, and The West Wing.
