- His love of music started at the age of five when he would sing Unchained Melody and You’ll Never Walk Alone at school.
- At university, it wasn’t music that he chose. He majored in architecture and went on to get a BA in art history and an MA in mathematics.
- He was one-half of one of the world’s most successful pop duos.
- He pursued an acting career in the early 1970s and has starred in: Catch-22, Carnal Knowledge, Bad Timing and Good to Go
- He is best known for his partnership with Paul Simon
- In 1964 he and Paul Simon released their first album – when it wasn;t a success they split up and he moved to London to try a solo career.
- They worked together again but split following the release of their most successful album, Bridge over Troubled Water, in 1970.
- HIs song Bright Eyes appeared in the movie Watership Down.
- They got back together again in 1982 for The Concert In Central Park
- His version of Always Look on the Bright Side of Life was used in the end credits of the 1997 film As Good as It Gets.
- He has earned eight Grammy Awards, including a Lifetime Achievement Award.
