- He left school at the age of 16 with two GCSE qualifications in art and geology
- He reached the public eye when his series The Naked Chef premiered in 1999
- In 1999 was invited to prepare lunch for the then-Prime Minister Tony Blair at 10 Downing Street
- In 2003, he was awarded an MBE for his services to the hospitality industry
- In 2005 he launched a campaign, Feed Me Better, to introduce schoolchildren to healthier foods
- He launched the chain Jamie’s Italian, in Oxford in 2008. The chain went into administration in May 2019
- He was chosen by Disney Pixar to provide the voice of the health inspector in the UK version of Ratatouille
- He is the second-best-selling British author, behind J. K. Rowling, and the best-selling British non-fiction author since records began
- He has his own range of kitchen utensils and cookware.
