Chaka Khan
- Born Yvette Marie Stevens in Chicago on 23 March 1953
- She is an American singer. Her career has spanned more than five decades
- Her interest in music developed at an early age, at eleven, she formed a girl group, The Crystalettes, which included her sister Taka.
- As a student, she started performing in small groups around the Chicago area, where she was spotted by a new music group Rufus joining them in 1972
- She is known as the “Queen of Funk”
- She became famous for a song which was initially written and recorded by Prince – I Feel for You became a million-seller in the United States and a number 1 in the UK.
- She has collaborated with Steve Winwood, Ry Cooder, Robert Palmer, Ray Charles, Quincy Jones, Chicago, De La Soul, Mary J. Blige, and Ariana Grande
- She can sing in seven music genres, including rock, country, classical, pop, jazz, gospel, and R&B
- In 1999, she started a Foundation to help autistic children and children from low-income families.
